Jesus said: I will come and heal him “ And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, and saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him”( Matt.8:5-7). As soon as Jesus entered into Capernaum, a town in Galilee, a centurion came to meet Him. When Jesus enters into your village or city, something good will happen in that place. A very important person (VIP) came to Him with a Prayer Request. That person was a captain of 100 men, a 60 th part of a Roman legion. The captain beseeched ( formal) Him , which means he asked Jesus for healing his servant in a worried way because he wanted or needed it very much. The Centurion’s Prayer Request The centurion stated his request very plainly with high precision: “Lord. My servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented”. The Amplified says,” Lord, my servant boy is lying at the house paralyzed and distressed with intense pains”. I believe this is the work of the devil. Paralysis, distress and intense pains are the manifestations of the works of the demons. Are you lying at your house? Do you have paralysis, being distressed with intense pains? I have a good news for you. Jesus will come and heal you. “ ( But) he who commits sin ( who practices evil doing) is of the devil ( takes his character from the evil one), for the devil has sinned ( violated the divine law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo ( destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works of the devil( has done). “ ( 1. John 3:8). The Amplified. Jesus the Son of God manifested in Capernaum Town to destroy the works of the devil in that village by healing, delivering and restoring people. Jesus says to you: I will come and heal you. Jesus heals you. He is not afraid of the demons in that town. The servant boy was demon possessed or oppressed by the devil. The boy was not a girl. Sometimes, a girl speaks in a male voice in Indian villages. Boys sometimes speak in ladies voice. As Teacher/ Professor, I know about boys and girls. These are all activities of the demons. Read Acts 16:16-18. Great Faith of the Gentile Centurion “ The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof; but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to them that followed, verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel” ( Matt.8: 8-10). The centurion loved that servant boy affectionately; perhaps that boy was faithful in his work. Therefore, the Centurion humbled himself before Jesus. He respectfully called Him, Lord. Yes, the principle here is Jesus is Lord, and he understood this law of respect. What was the reply of the Centurion? “ Lord, I am not worthy or fit to have You come under my roof; but speak the word, and my servant boy will be cured”. Humility goes before exaltation. The bottom line is humility and faith in Jesus to meet the need of divine healing. Humility is the powerful weapon to receive answers to our request. Look at the humility of Abraham! “ Abraham answered, Behold now, I who am but dust and ashes have taken upon myself to speak to the Lord( Genesis 18:27). The Lord replied, I will not destroy it (the city).Here, the centurion understood another important concept of the power of delegated authority. His servants obeyed his words. Similarly, he understood that Jesus is having higher authority from God and His words are the words of God Himself. Therefore, he said, Lord, speak the word, and my servant boy will be cured. He believed in the words of Jesus. Red letters win. Jesus coming to my house is same as His word coming to my house. Jesus and His words are one and the same. The Bible says in Psalms 107:20 : “ He sends forth His word and heals them and rescues them from the pit and destruction”. The Amplified. Speak the word only. And my servant boy will be healed. One word- the spoken word will heal you and deliver you from destruction. That one word is the Name of J-E-S-U-S. The whole hell trembles at the Name of Jesus and responses to it positively. “ And she did this for many days. Then Paul, being sorely annoyed and worn out, turned and said to the spirit within her, I charge you in the Name of Jesus Christ to come out of her! And it came out that very moment” ( The Acts of the Apostles 16:18). See the power of the spoken word. In the Name of Jesus, be healed, be delivered, cured! The Centurion believed in Jesus, by believing His precious words. This is the bottom-line. Faith! Great Faith! Jesus marveled at two things only: 1. Faith of the gentile (v.10), 2. Unbelief of the Jews ( Mk.6:6).Great faith brings great results. Before seeing the healing, he believed in Him that He will cure his boy. The Law of FAITH ( 8:13; 9:29; Jas.1:5-8; Heb.11:6; Mk.11:22-24) “ And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour” ( Matt.8:13). Jesus said, Go, it shall be done for you as you have believed. Here Jesus is moved to help him by his faith. If you believe, you will receive. Your faith will overcome the world. All things are possible. There is nothing you can’t do. Faith brings healing. And the servant boy was restored to health at that very moment. I want to pray for you right now: PRAYER FOR DIVINE HEALING Heavenly Father, In the name of Jesus, I come to your throne of grace for help in need of healing for this precious person. Lord, I humble myself and beyond my reasoning, I believe in my heart that all things are possible with you. As the servant of the Almighty God, I command this person, to be healed, delivered and restored in the Name of Jesus. Let him or her sit, stand, walk and run in the mighty name of Jesus. Thank you for curing this man or woman. I give all the glory to God. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
