(By Rev. C. Peter Chandran, God’s Minister)

18th January 2015 Sunday Messages No.2. at MADRAS PENTECOSTAL CHURCH, KandhanChavadi, Chennai. 8.30a.m. to 9.30 a.m.

Greetings to you in the precious name our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! In this message, I would like to share with you about the will of God under five sermon points. They are :

  1. Principle of God’s will
  2. Parable of God’s will
  3. Paradigm of God’s will
  4. Particulars of God’s will
  5. Paradise of God’s will

Let us meditate each of the above mentioned sermon notes:

1. Principle of God’s will:

“Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” ( Matt.6:10)

God’s will must done in Heaven and in Earth, not human will or devil’s desire. This is our prayer. This is the statement of truth stated by Our Lord Jesus. Therefore, it is a principle of God’s word. God wants His will be done in the life of the believers. This is one among the prayer points in the Lord’s Prayer. Therefore, we must pray that God’s will, be done in our life. Secondly, we shall study the parable of Jesus about God’s will.

2. Parable of Jesus on God’s Will:

A parable is a short story that teaches a lesson, especially one told by Jesus in the Bible. Let us read this story in Matt. 21:28 – 32.

28 But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.29 He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

A father had two sons. He wanted them to work in his own vineyard. He instructed his sons one by one saying, “ Son, go work to day in my vineyard”. Father’s instruction contains seven words which are very important. The first son, after hearing his father’s instruction was not willing to go and work in his vineyard. But after a while, he thought about his father’s words and changed his mind set and obeying his father, went to the vineyard and worked. This obedience reminds us one old testament Bible verse: 22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. (1 Samuel 15:22). Yes, my dear brothers, obedience is better than sacrifice. Since, he obeyed, he did the will of the father. But, the second son was acting like he was obeying his father saying: I go, sir. But, he did not go and do the will of his father. Here is the contrast between those who do the will of God and those who do not work out the will of God in their life.

Vineyard may represent physical vineyard in those days or work place now a days and also spiritual vineyard which is the symbol of the church. According to your calling, you should either work full time in the ministry or work in the secular world according to your special calling directly from the LORD. Jesus is our perfect example. 30 years, he worked in His carpenter’s job and then three and half years did full time ministry. I believe young people should work for some years after their college education, And after that, if you are called for ministry. You can work full time in the gospel work. The next point is paradigm of God’s will.

3. Paradigm of God’s will:

A typical example or pattern of something. The example God’s will may explained by the event Jesus healing a leper.

Matt.8:1-4 says: When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

A leper came to Jesus. Leprosy people were considered outcasts in those days. In villages, even in Chennai city, the lepers village ( Paranur rp.o. near Chennai city, once I ministered in that area for them) are located very far from the main city. In all their life is a sinful life. Because of the fall, there is terrible things in their life. Is there any one who can show the way to them, the lepers? They are like scattered people, pain in their thoughts. Is there any one to meet and have compassion on them? Jesus was the one who stood in the gap, and interceeded for him or them to meet and comfort them and provide healing for him. In all his body, severe disease and pain and woundings, lonely separated life from his family. Is there anyone to go and seek after him and meet him and have compassion on him. Jesus is the one , my dear friend. In all his heart, there is sorrow, he was like a bruised reed, is there anyone to love him? Friend, Jesus loved you, he still loves you.

American King James Version
And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.( Ezekiel 22:30). What A wonderful , loving great healer JESUS. Jesus prayed for him in the night and on the next day healed him, cleansed him, saved him, made him a child of the Almighty God. The next point is Particulars of God’s will.

4. Particulars of God’s will:

Salvation and knowing truth is God’s will. Hoiiness or sanctification is God’s will. Thanksgiving, praying and rejoicing always is God’s will. Doing good is God’s will. Suffering according to His will is God’s will. Our minds must be renewed to understand the good, acceptable and perfect will of God. Let us meditate each of the particulars of God’s will.

Who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1. Tim. 2:4

God is willing to save all the sinners. None should perish, but all should inherit eternal life. The name of Jesus saves you. He forgives your sins. Salvation means forgiveness of sins, deliverance, healing , success in life, all in that one good package of God’s gift to mankind. When you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from dead on the third day and confess through your mouth that Jesus is Lord, then you are saved. Salvation is the precious gift of God. Receive this gift by faith today. Secondly Sanctification is the will of God.

3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: (1 Thessalonians 4:3). Sanctification means being set apart for God. You should abstain from immoral life style.. Then He will purify you as a good vessel for God, meet for every good work. Thirdly, Thanksgiving, rejoicing, Praying always is the will God.

16 Rejoice evermore.17 Pray without ceasing.18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.(KJV)

This is the day that the LORD has made, we shall rejoice and be glad in it. The joy of the LORD Is my strength. When we win a soul for Jesus in this world, there shall be happiness in Heaven. A soul winner is a wise man. Whatever we have, we must be content with that and glad in the LORD. Pray with out ceasing, says St Paul. Even when you are traveling , you can be filled with the Holy Spirit and be praying in the prayer language of speaking in tongues. We must be having a prayerful attitude in the church and in the workplace also. And the Bible says, say thank you when a person does good for you. I am genuinely thankful for all the blessings of God in my life. And fourthly, Apostle Peter says, suffering for righteous cause is the will of God.

15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: (KJV) 1 Peter 2:15 I Peter is the new testament complementary book for the old testament book Job. When believers suffer for faith in Jesus, or distributing gospel tracts, or preaching the gospel, this is the will of God. We need not worry about that. But, if you are convicted as a murderer or you are stealing money from others and you are convicted for that act and suffering for that crime, it is not the will of God, says the Apostle. And, fifthly, if you are a Christian and suffer for your testimony, it is the will of God.

19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. 1 Peter 4:19.if you do good, and suffer for that, it is the will of God. If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink. You can overcome evil with good. One who is born of God does good. The one who is evil, does bad for others. We are living in the last days. So, let us not be weary in doing good to believers and God’s ministers. Let us honor God’s ministers by our tithes and offerings, by that we are honoring God Himself. Let us come to the final part of God’s will.

5. Paradise of God’s will:

The word paradise means a good comforting place, where you go after you die. After Jesus resurrection, we directly go to Heaven , which is a wonderful place. But, those who overcome lust of eyes, lust of flesh and pride of life and do the will of God, will live for ever. Jesus committed Himself for doing the will of God, saying, “ not My will, Father, let Your will be done in my life”. God prepared a body for Jesus. He offered it as a living sacrifice holy acceptable unto God. Therefore, He discovered and fulfilled the good, perfect, desirable will of God.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (1 John 2:17). According to this verse, those who dedicate their life in discovering and fulfilling the will of God , will not die, but obtain everlasting life and shall live for ever. Amen.
