( 16 th March 2014 Sunday message by Rev. C. Peter Chandran, God’s Minister )

1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.5 And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.6 And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;7 And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. ( Mark 1;1-11).

The Gospel of Jesus Christ

The title of Mark’s book in the Bible is, ‘ the Son of God” or “The Gospel of Jesus Christ”. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. This is the gospel. You are your father’s son, that is the good news to your father and the good news to the people where you were born. The natural birth is different from spiritual birth. Similarly, natural son is different from spiritual son. Jesus Christ is God’s spiritual Son. God is happy about you when you are born again. God says, “ you are my son”.

Prophecy

Behold means look upon the horizon. God sent His messenger before He really sent His Son. John was that witness, who witnessed about the true light. John prepared the way of the Lord. Jesus Christ is Lord. When you walk in the way of the Lord, his path is made straight. Today, you turn to God and walk in His ways. Forsake your own thoughts and ways, and turn to God and start walking towards Him, some miracle will happen in your life. The first step is turn to God, that is repentance ( change of mind).

The Baptism of Repentance

John preached the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Your sins must be forgiven. Your sins must be washed and you must be made clean. What are sins? The Bible answers in Mark 7: 20- 23. Sin defiles a person. These sins come from within, out of the heart of man.

21. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22. Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness; 23. All these evil things come from within, and defile the man”.

All these 13 sins are evil things. If your life consists of these bad stuff, you need to be forgiven, delivered and washed. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sins. Before the coming of the Lord, John could not do this higher cleansing ministry. Water only washes the outward dirt, but the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses our conscience from dead works. John the Baptist, baptized the people of Judea and Jerusalem in the Jordon river. This baptism was only a peripheral baptism. This was not the Christian baptism. This was done for the forgiveness of sins and peace with God. It is true that forgiveness leads to peace.

Benefits of Forgiveness

“ And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. … And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee, go in peace” ( Luke 7 : 48,50 )

Jesus says to you today, “ your sins are forgiven, your faith has saved you, go in peace”. Only, Jesus could say these wonderful words. Jesus forgives your sins, He gives you peace of mind, you receive your salvation. in Mark’s gospel 2:1-11, Jesus forgave a man’s sin and healed him.

“When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house” ( Mark 2:5,11).

The sick man obeyed Jesus, his sins were forgiven, and he was healed and received good health from Dr. Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord. Amen.

Christian Baptism

After receiving the wonderful benefits of forgiveness and salvation( double cure: salvation and healing), putting the faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, a man is made a disciple of Jesus. Then he must be baptized understanding the meaning, significance and benefits of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is called the Christian baptism, which is the true new testament baptism.

“ And if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation “ ( Romans 10;9,10).

There are two steps for salvation of a person:

  1. Believe in your heart God raised Jesus from the dead,
  2. Confess with the mouth, “ Jesus is Lord” and you shall be saved.

After going through the process of repentance, forgiveness and remission of sins, healing in your body, faith in Jesus, and confession of faith, you must be immersed in water for a second, which is the symbol of death of Jesus, and come out of water, which is the symbol of resurrection of Jesus, which experience is called being baptized or water baptism. Jesus (there was no sin in Him) was baptized by John the Baptist . Thus He fulfilled all the righteousness of God. Do you believe this gospel shared by me to you today?.Then I invite you or invite me, I shall baptize you in water anytime anywhere any number of people. God bless you. Amen.

PRAYER

Father God Almighty, I heard your gospel today. Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins, which proceeded from negative thoughts..I renounce all the evil things, I believe you are good. Jesus, please forgive my sins, heal me, cleanse me through your precious blood which you shed on the cross of Calvary in Jerusalem. Thank you Jesus for the Peace, Prosperity and Progress ( development) you give to me. I believe you died on the cross for my sins and God the Father raised you from the dead. I believe Jesus is alive today! Lord Jesus, give me a new heart and a new spirit and I put on new attitude every day by renewing my mind with God’s word..Thank you Lord. In Jesus Name, I pray. Amen.
