Good Morning friends. Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus. Today’s message is from St. John 5:1-15. There was a sick man sleeping in the Bethesda tank for 38 years. This man had an infirmity for 38 years. God wanted to heal this person. V6,v8 & v14 are the red letter words of Jesus. Red letters win. The message outline is as following:

1. Christ Jesus in Jerusalem, v.1
2. Construction of Bethesda, v.2 – v.4
3. Compassion of Jesus, v.5- v.7
4. Command of Jesus, v.8- 9
5. Consultation of Jews, v.10- v.13
6. Counseling of Jesus, v.14
7. Confession of the healed man, v.15

Jesus came to Jerusalem ( City of Peace ) at this time particularly to heal this man. He also participated in the feast. This healing miracle was written ony in John’s Gospel.

JESUS said: I am the Door

Bethesda : In the Hebrew language, Bethesda means “ House of Mercy “. This pool ( water tank- on the ground) was situated near the sheep gate. It had five porches. Different types of impotent folks were laid in these porches, e.g. blind, halt, withered. They were waiting for the moving of the water. They believed a myth that at certain season, an angel would descend into the water tank and stir the waters. At that time whoever stepped into the waters first will be healed.

All over the world, many such Bethesda’s are constructed for people to enjoy thie holiday seasons, e.g. one in Africa. The water represents the Living water Jesus. Jesus is the door( sheep gate). The entire Bethesda structure represents the House of Mercy, our Lord Jesus Christ.

MIND HEALING:

And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, wilt thou be made whole? V.5,6

Bethesda tourist place could not heal this 38 years sick person. But, the creator of the world visted that place, he had compassion on that man with infirmity. Jesus is he House of Mercy. He is full of compassion. The Bible says in Joel 2:13:

“ …. For He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger,
and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil”.

Jesus stood before him, had compassion on him, knew his condition by the word of knowledge, and asked a question, which has the answer that healing is the will of God.

“ Wilt thou be made whole?v.6. Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth”. ( iii John 2).

God wants to heal you totally, spirit soul and body. Here, Jesus first heals the man in the mind for he had so many excuses. The man was convinced in his mind by the look and words of Jesus that healing is the will of God, before he received the physical healing.

BODY HEALING

“ Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed and walk”. V.6.

These seven words are important. This is the command of Jeus. Walking is the the best exercise. The disciples of Jesus never had any disese during their training period for 3 and 1/2 years. The reson is all the time everyday, atleast 25 miles they walked on foot with Jesus following His foot prints. They ate good agricultural food. They drank clean water. That is why, they never had any disease and enjojed divine healing and health.

When Jesus said to him, Rise, take up thy bed and walk, the man was made whole, and took up his bed and walked: and the same day was the Sabbath day.

According to dictionary, inherit means:1. To receive property, money,etc from somebody who has died; I inherited quite a lot of money from my mother. She left me$12,000/- when she died. 2. ( Health, Biology) to receive a quality, characteristic etc from your parents or family: she has inherited her father’s gift for languages.

The Bible says in Exodus 15:26
“ And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.”

Jehovah Rapah = The LORD our healer. Jesus Christ is our Healer. He can heal any disease. The man was perfectly healed, in the same way, He will heal you. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be healed.

SPIRIT HEALING

Jesus forgave his sins. Forgiveness is related to human spirit. When your sins are forgiven, you have a good spiritual life. In John 5:14, the Bible says: “ Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole, sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee”.

After his healing, Jesus found him in the temple and counseled him. He talked with him. Relgious Pharisees do not talk with common people. Jesus did follow up ministry. He said, “ Behold, you are made whole”. Sin no more. If you sin, you will become worse, if you live a sin free holy life, you shall become a better person. You shall enjoy your best life. Jesus wants you to live a holy life. The Bible says, in 1 Peter 1:15,16: “ But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy”.

God started a holy desire in your heart to be healed or made whole. Healing is God’s will concerning your life. As he cooperated with His will, and believed His word he was physically healed and his sins were forgiven, received Jesus in his life. These three divine processes are summarized in 1 Thessalonians 5:23,24:

“ And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He calleth you, who also will do it”.

The God of peace sanctifies your spirit, soul and body. Man is a three dimensional being. Man is spirit, he has a soul, and lives in a body. Jesus healed him mind, body and spirit. Our Lord Jesus Christ is coming very soon. God is faithful and calling you to live a life of sanctification. He also will do it. God bless you and your household.

Prayer for Healing

Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. Jesus, you are house of mercy, living water and the door. I believe that it is your will to heal me. Lord Jesus heal the infirmity , sickness and weakness in me. I rise by faith and walk before You. Than you Jesus, for forgiving my sins and sanctifying me. I enjoy divine healing and health in the name of Jesus. Purify my conversation with others. God , you are Holy. The God of peace, sanctify me totally spirit soul and body. You are faithful and I trust in You. Jesus healed me. In Jesus mighty name, I pray. Amen.
