Repentance:
First of all, God desires that none should perish. David says, “ I would have lost heart, Unless I had believed”, in this verse. Romans 2:4 says,” or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing the goodness of God leads you to repentance?”.
The goodness of God is the favor of God. His forbearance is His patience and His longsuffering working in us towards God’s salvation. I like the fact: “ the goodness of God leads you to repentance”.
One meaning of repentance is being made whole. Sound mind makes you to have good health. Hear the example of Jesus about repentance in Luke 13:4,5: “ or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish”.
Repentance ( change of mind) precedes faith. Whosoever believes Jesus the Son of God will not perish. Believe on the Lord Jesus, you shall inherit eternal life. Jesus is speaking to a particular group of people that they should repent and be converted, that their sins may be blotted out.
Rain is the favor of God:
Secondly, when you repent, i.e. turn from useless, lifeless idols, and turn and come to The Living God, He sends rain to the people and blesses them with great salvation.” Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from Heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness” ( Acts 14:17).
God always does good things in your life. He gives us rain from Heaven. And because of that there are fruitful seasons. God fills our hearts with good food and gladness. Because of water cycle ( which consists of five components: evaporation, condensation, precipitation, infiltration and run-off), rain comes down. God is the author of all good things.
Walk uprightly:
Thirdly, Psalm 84:11 says that God will provide us with all good things in life. “ For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly”.
The revelation about the LORD here is mentioned. The LORD God is a sun and shield. God illuminates, invigorates, warms, and sustains life like the sun. He protects and defends all who trust in Him as a shield in the hands of a mighty man. “ The LORD will give grace and glory”.
Jesus took with Him three of His disciples upon a high mountain. Claiming up on a mountain is a very good physical exercise. And after that praying to God is a good spiritual exercise. Because of these physical and spiritual disciplines, a notable change happened in His life on that day; ACTUALLY, A TRANSFORMATION HAPPENED.
God will give both; not the former without the latter. The former is the plant and the latter is the fruit. Grace and Glory. Grace is God’s strength and Glory is manifestation of His presence. God will supply wants as well as needs - every good thing and no evil thing.
God’s goodness:
Fourthly, “ And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD” ( Jere. 31:14).
God will make you happy by satisfying the thirsts of your soul. He will give you rest, refreshment and renewal. God’s people shall be satisfied with the goodness of God. In the N.T. God is our loving Father. An earthly father gives good food ( Bread, egg, fish ) to his children. Our Heavenly Father gives us better things for our spiritual life. In Matt. 7:11 our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ says: “ If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in Heaven give good things to them that ask for Him?”
If the wicked fathers see to it that their children get what they ask and that they are fed, clothed, happy, prosperous, healed, protected and free from suffering, to the fullest extent of their ability, How much more will the Heavenly Father do for His children ”that ask Him”. Luke adds, “ give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him”( Lk. 11:13).Let us ask our Heavenly Father to fill us with the Holy Spirit and all the good things in our present life and godliness. God called us unto His divine nature and His divine power will provide us, whatever you need for your good life on this planet called earth.
Good Gifts:
Fifthly, The anointing of the Holy Spirit is essential for a powerful ministry. God wants to baptize you with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Jesus the Son of God was anointed with the Holy Spirit. Therefore, He went about, where ever He went, He went on doing good to the people He met, and healing all the people who were oppressed by the devil. Such was the degree of His anointing. God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with power and Holy Spirit. You shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This gift is for you and your children and even for your third and fourth and further generations according to Apostle Peter in Acts 2:38,39,40 when he was preaching on the day of Pentecost being filled with the Holy Spirit. Now, let us read James 1:17 form our LORD’s brother: “ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”. God bless you with all His goodness. You will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Only believe God. Amen.
